| Abstract | We collected data for 231 species in 119 genera, deposited in the collection of entomology at the Instituto de Ciencias Naturales, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, distributed mainly in the Andean region in four subfamilies: Pyrrhopygini (13 genera, 27 species), “Pyrginae” (53 genera, 114 species), Heteropterinae (1 genus, 11 species) and Hesperiinae (52 genera and 79 species). The biogeography of the group cannot be explained by the vicariance or take other biogeographic hypothesis, because of the sympatric distribution, which implies the lack of relationship between 1 Programa Mariposas de Colombia, Instituto de Ciencias Naturales, Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
