| Abstract | An Air Discharge Protection System is imperative for most commercial, residential, industrial and other buildings. This article will evaluate, through a case study, a protection system that provides complete coverage regarding the physical structure, safety of people and animals. In order to prepare the project, it was initially analyzed whether the building had the need to design this system. Therefore, the risk analysis was carried out considering: evaluation of the annual number of dangerous events due to atmospheric discharges, evaluation of the probability of damages, analysis of the amount of loss, analysis of the risk components, tolerable risk and division of the structure into zones of analysis. It was verified the necessity of the SPDA for the building under study and, later, the subsystems of capture, subsystem of descent and ground subsystem were specified. |
