| Abstract | Several dioxotungsten(VI) cOlUplexesof the types W02L, W02L.X and W02L.AA (where LH2 =schiff base derived from o-aminophenol and salicylaldehyde, 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde" 5-bromosalicylaldehyde and 3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde; X =dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulphoxide or pyridine; AA =o-phenanthroline and 2,2'-dipyridyl) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, electrical conductance, magnetic susceptibility, NMR, IR and electronic spectral measurements. The schiff bases behave as tridentate dibasic ONO donor ligands. The complexes are non-electrolytes and diamagnetic. The complexes exhibit a charge-transfer band around 24000 cm -1. W02L and W02L.X are six-coordinated octahedral while W02L.AA are seven-coordinated pentagonal-bipyramidal complexes. |
