Abstract	Brazil stands out for its vast territory and varied range of timber species. In this sense, for the correct use of the wood, it is necessary to know the physical properties of the wood, with emphasis on the basic density as the main indicator of the quality of the material. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine the axial variation of the basic density of Hovenia dulcis Thunberg.
