| Abstract | This study has tried to analyze the problem of floods in Cruzeiro do Sul city in Acre state and to identify the strategies that support in the combat to the floods that are implemented by the local municipal government. It has had like goal to identify the main impacts floods cause to the houseless families; and proper strategies that support in reduce of the risks and the damages cause by the floods in this city. It has known that the floods bring economic, social and environmental problems in all places and in Cruzeiro do Sul isn't different; in this way, it is necessary the planning and execution of public policies that enable the displacement and inclusion of affected families by the floods. Thus, it is essential to establish debates and definitions of goals and strategies for ensuring social security, physical integrity and the constitutional rights to life, health and human dignity. The research was developed through literature references, seeking to base the theoretical basis and also through data collection, from application of two semi-structured questionnaires with families who live with the floods problem and with the staff of professionals in the Municipal Coordination Civil Defense. The results obtained have revealed that there is no effective planning with well-defined and delimited strategies to mitigate the social problems arising from impacts caused by floods for families living in risk areas. The importance of an efficient planning and implementation of public programs and policies to combat the negative impacts caused by the floods, providing opportunities for families a better life up points. |
