Abstract	First of all I want to apologize for the delay in submitting my comments. This study tries to sort out the different drivers responsible for the changes in flooding along the Rhine River (Germany). This is an interesting topic that has been the object of few papers in the recent years. Moreover, HESS would be a good outlet. With that said, I have a number of comments on this manuscript that would require at least a major revision.
