| Abstract | There are few existing studies on earth structures behavior, for this reason architectural and cultural heritage built on earth is been highly affected, this is why reinforcement for this kind of buildings is important to the restoration of them. Colombia has a 90% of its heritage built on earth, but it also has a high seismic hazard which makes adobe and rammed earth buildings vulnerable during eathquakes. This article, presents the results of an investigation developed by the investigative groups GRIMEand Estructuras y Construccion, where the main subject is the rehabilitation of rammed earth town halls with confinement wood elements, the investigation is based on shaking table tests on 1:20 scale models with wood elements and without them. The results show an improvement in terms of displacement on the reinforced model after the appliance of the earthquake, additionally, the reinforced model evidences a reduction in terms of cracks and crevices. |
