| Abstract | JUST two days before our meetings began at Buck Hill Falls an article in the New York Times attracted my attention—"Questionnaire sparks tumult in academe." Well, I thought, this sounds like a good warmup for our AAPOR Conference. It turned out that this particular discussion has been going on for a couple of years—long enough, according to.the article, for a file of some 515 pages of articles, letters, and other documents to be accumulated.
