| Abstract | The heat exchanger more often used in industrial processes is the shell and tubes type. These exchangers are widely used in heating, cooling, evaporation and condensation of fluid. Heat exchangers of this type have many applications in power generation and recycling industries. This paper proposes a theoretic and experimental study of the global heat transfer coefficient of shell and tube a condenser TEMA E used in a chiller for adsorption of ammonia in NaBr. For the development of the study, a small shell and tube was used with a cross with four baffles and 19 inner tubes. the theoretical model for the evaluation of the performance shell the method of Bell-Delaware (1960) and was used for the shell. For the tubes the correlations described by Chato (1962) and Rohsenow (1973) were used in order to calculate the global heat transfer coefficient. The results show that the theoretical value found is within the margin of error found of the experiments part. |
