| Abstract | In this chapter, the steady-state stability of synchronous generator as influenced by static excitation system parameters and the generator loading is investigated with respect to a simple power system. The various aspects of tuning the power system stabilizer and of selecting a suitable power system variable as its input signal are discussed in this chapter. The effect of governor parameters on the stabilizer setting is also investigated. Examples of both hydro and thermal power systems are considered for illustration. |
