Abstract	«Social Work Degree at University of La Laguna: a Look on the Historical Trajectory of this Discipline and Profession». The implementation of the Degree of Social Work at the University of La Laguna, in the 2009-2010 academic year, is the result of the voyage made by the collective of social workers, individuals, professionals, social partners and organizations that supported it. Journey that began in the Spanish territory in the 90s with the then called «Bachelor of Social Work. This process was interrupted when the European convergence in higher education. This article is about this new milestone reached in Social Work, which is an improvement to the educational community, professional and society as a whole. Also, it presents a vision for the long journey toward the discipline and profession of social work has been ongoing since the late nineteenth century and its consolidation as a profession and discipline in the first two decades of the twentieth century in the international and European, as well as the development of education in Spain and Canary Islands.
