| Abstract | Fonnation of Cu clusters deposited on polyimide and their diffusion into polyimide have been studied in-situ by the surface-sensitive second harmonic generation (SHG) technique. The diffusion coefficients of Cu clusters were measured and compared with those tor atomic Cu. The effectiveness of a titanium (Ti) intermediate layer in preventing Cu diffusion into PI was also investigated. It was found that an atomic layer of Ti was already sufficient for arresting the diffusion process. |
