| Abstract | Medicinal plants are part of the healing therapy for thousands of years. Are recognized by ANVISA and WHO has recently recommended its spread worldwide. Given this, the Brazilian government created a public health program, the PNPMF. In addition, the MEC determines the development of environmental education classes in schools. This work fits in this context, and aimed to understand the perception of early childhood education and elementary school children about medicinal plants, using the school garden and practices with students. The activities were conducted in the Escola dos Sonhos, Florianópolis, SC, in the period from September to November 2013. We conducted a literature review which established a series of practices with students, respecting the cognitive ability by age. In early childhood education were recognized 80% of the plants presented to them. In elementary school, through the practices, students were able to understand what are the medicinal plants.This work was revealed that the presence of an Agronomist in schools is important to facilitate appropriate teaching spaces, with plants in the teaching and learning. |
