Abstract	Welcome to Raleigh, NC and the 2006 International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering, ISSRE 2006. Our program this year offers a wide range of activities that range from tracks with regular fully reviewed research papers that present the latest research results in the area of software reliability engineering, to tracks featuring fast abstracts that present lightly reviewed technical articles discussing work in progress, related opinions, experiences, and issues, to student paper tracks, to government tracks — a new feature of ISSRE this year — that showcase papers and panels with specific goal of increasing the synergy between government agencies and the research community in the domain of software reliability engineering. Special focus is on government high assurance development efforts. As always, we also have an industry practices track that enhances the dialog among software practitioners and academic researchers. Thirty eight research papers have been selected from the one hundred and two submissions. In addition, there are 19 industry practices presentations (out of 29 submitted), there are 13 fast abstracts (22 submitted), and 9 student abstracts (out of 19 submissions). We would like to thank our corporate sponsors who are supporting student participation and other events at ISSRE. This year the program will fund participation of 27 students. This unprecedented number of travel grants is the result of the donations from the following sponsors: Cisco, Microsoft, IBM, and NetApp, and will ensure the continued interest and training in software reliability engineering of younger generations of researchers and practitioners.
