| Abstract | The advancement of gender theory in sociology can be substantially expedited by more systematically using the published literature of our sister disciplines: history, anthropology, psychology, political science, and economics. Three categories of use are discussed: 1) for clarification of our dependent variables; 2) as data to test and refine theory; 3) as sources of concepts and theoretical ideas to supplement our own. Examples of these uses are drawn primarily from my own published work. |
