ABSTRACT The study shows the assessment of the economic, social and environmental impact of the water solar heating system installed at the General Hospital Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso, in Santiago de Cuba. An analysis of the consumption, and the cost of the main energy carriers at the hospital, was made. The thermal evaluation of the solar heating system was conducted and its economic impact on consumption indicators was also analyzed. The environmental impact was determined according to the not-emitted amount of CO 2 , NO 2 and SO 2 to the environment. The social impact is evaluated regarding the patient´s satisfaction degree with the service. This proposal resulted in savings of 152.4 MWh / year, 11.8 Ton Fuel Oil / year ($ 9,639.77 CUP and 8376.5 USD). Forty three tons of CO 2 / year and 1.6 tons of SO 2 / year were not emitted to the environment. The 92% of the patients surveyed expressed satisfaction with the solar heating system, and only 17% expressed dissatisfaction. |
