| Abstract | The development of a population is related to the availability of land routes, having greater access and better roads facilitates the movement of people, commerce, etc. The ease of mobility allows to expand the market of products, especially agricultural products, access to basic medical services, as well as education services, among other aspects. In Colombia, rural areas have the least transport infrastructure, so the lack of communication routes hampers travel and impacts on the economy and marketing of products. The development of this project seeks to know the physical and environmental characterization of the area of influence of the path to the El Palmar path, such as climatic, geological, soil, cover, current and potential use, hydrographic classification, main ecological structure and Identification of natural hazard processes; The previous one based on sources of secondary information such as the POT of the municipality of Yopal of the year 2013, being the main one and others like: the General Survey of Soils and Zoning of the Agustin Codazzi Geographic Institute of the Department of Casanare of the year 2014, National Legend of Land Coverages Methodology CORINE Land Cover adapted for Colombia Scale 1: 100,000 - 2010, Environmental determinants of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Orinoquia - Corporinoquia (Resolution No. 300.41.13.0191, Year 2013), Casanare Geological Map of Year 2015, of the Colombian Geological Survey. To propose the geometric pre-design of the track and plate footprints in the Palmar Road, according to the physical characterization and based on the requirements determined by the POT of the Municipality of Yopal department of Casanare and technical specifications for third order roads of INVIAS . Primary information is also collected for both physical and environmental aspects, as well as for track technicians, based on field visits to El Palmar, which allows the collection of sufficient information to define its geographical, environmental, , Hydrological techniques of the area, georeferencing the path of the path of the Palmar with the use of GPS and take a photographic record in order to fully know the state of it, In addition to the realization of pips and sampling of soil to determine by means of laboratory tests the physical and mechanical characteristics of this one and thus to define the most viable preliminary design of the track, plate footprint and complementary works for the road of the path the Palmar And to propose different recommendations for improvement of the road as drainage works: sewers and gutters.
