| Abstract | The marbles of the Calahonda-Castell de Ferro area present two systems of folds: the first one has a N70°E to E-W direction and the second, according to the observed superposed structures, is N-S. Both systems were deformed under plastic conditions. The strike of the first system is common in the Betic Internal Zone, linked to compression and nappe structuring. The second one, less represented, could be related with the westward drifting of the cited zone. A great number of faults and joints formed in later stages of deformation. The first ones correspond to the continuation of the westward translation of the Internal Zone. The rest of the deformations occurred during the middle Miocene and, particularly, from the Late Miocene onwards. |
