| Abstract | Despite the high cost of manufacturing, aluminum matrix composite materials are being increasingly used for the pistons of combustion engines. The paper presents the study of wear composite reinforced SiC particles in the raw state and after heat treatment of T6, which cause spheroidization of eutectic areas and increases hardness in conditions of friction with different medium as lubricant. The base lubricant was Lotos mineral oil of the characteristics 15W40. The same oil with the addition of modifier Liqui Moly which is based on MoS2 was the second lubricant. As a third lubricant oil with modifier K2 Militec-1 produced on the basis of synthetic additives was used. Friction coefficient measurements were performed on "ballondisc" tribotester with ball of 6 mm in diameter made of Al2O3 with a hardness of 2000 HV. The testing was carried out under a load of 10 N at a linear velocity of 5 cm/s at 5 mm radius. For the composite heat rough slightly lower coefficient of friction, irrespective of the lubricating environment, was noticed. The highest coefficient of friction was observed for the environment with the addition of Liqui Moly modifier. The reason for this could be the impossibility of formation of a stable sample surface film with molybdenum disulfide. The film was damaged by the reinforcement of composite which particles torn from the matrix and roll on the sample during tribological tests. |
