| Abstract | Binuclear copperfl l) and cobalt(II) complexes of new tetradentate schiff base ligands derived from the condensation of some diamines with salicylaldehyde(l) or pentane-2,4-dione(IO have been synthesised and investigated by magnetic and spectral methods. The spectral and ESR data suggest distortion of environment around coppertlf) complexes towards tetrahedral configuration. Variable temperature magnetic moment measurements show no copper-copper interaction. Cobalt(II) complexes are also found to be pseudotetrahedral with no appreciable metal-metal interaction. Copper(II) complexes of (I) on reaction with ammonia get converted to bis(salicylaldimino)copper(lI) complex. |
