| Abstract | In the primary science curriculum, photosynthesis is one of the most important topics. Photosynthesis is taught across different levels in the primary science curriculum beginning from Year 4. Despite being one of the important science concepts, misconceptions relevant to photosynthesis are prevalent among primary school learners. Various instructional strategies have been reported to effectively reduce the misconceptions of the students. The use of Concept Cartoons is one of the effective methods reported in previous studies. Following this claim, in this study, Concept Cartoons were used to identify and remediate Year 4 pupils’ misconceptions about photosynthesis using a qualitative research design involving in-class discussions and interviews. The outcomes of both in-class discussions and interviews show that the Concept Cartoons used managed to identify the misconceptions related to photosynthesis and reduced the incidence of misconceptions to a certain extent. In this chapter, details are provided about the Concept Cartoons that were used, as well as the illustration of in-class discussions and interview responses that resulted in reducing the misconceptions relevant to photosynthesis. |
