| Abstract | The main goal of the present work is the application of practical situations for teaching spatial geometry, focusing on the shape of geometric solids by building a tank to capture rainwater (cistern). To achieve this goal, we build a theoretical base for the choice of the topics discussed: geometry and environment. The methodology applied was didactic engineering. Initially, we made the presentation of the characters an the role of each part involved in the work, and soon after, the description of the way the work was done, starting with a motivation for a sense of awareness and then proceeded to describe the proposed work in order to introduce a new perspective on teaching of geometry, providing opportunities for students to use new tools that could facilitate the teaching-learning process and make them aware of the need to preserve natural resources of our planet. Our aim is to check in practice applications for the content worked in the 2nd year of high school, together with the introduction of digital media in everyday classroom (using software to develop the design of the cistern), leading to an attempt to introduce a new look in geometry, reducing the distance between mathematics and the student. Finally, after analyzing the results, it is clear that the School is the best way to full awareness and the improvement of attitudes in favor of preserving our planet. It is essential to develop actions that encourage these attitudes at School and the discipline of Mathematics takes its first step. |
