| Abstract | A few examples of poly(m-phenyleneethynylene)s 6 and 9 have been synthesized via Heck-coupling reaction. With the aid of the model compound, the optical band structures of the electronic absorption and emission spectra have been characterized by using UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy at variable temperatures. While both polymers 6 and 9 are blue-emitting in the solid state, the solution quantum efficiency of the former (φfl ≈ 0.34) is about twice as higher as that of the latter (φfl ≈ 0.15). |
