| Abstract | The main objective of this article is to analyze the theoretical contributions that explain the heterogeneity of employment considering the features of the productive structure. We compare those perspectives that emphasize the importance of productivity and the size of the company and those that focus their analysis on the relationship established between different sectors. The research evaluates such explanations based on a typology of jobs for Argentina in the period 2008-2011, distinguishing four segments which differences in the quality of employment. We conclude that the scale of production it is extremely important in explaining differences in the quality of employment, but it is not enough. The incorporation of the productive linkages shows that there are trade relations between those segments. |
