| Abstract | The public transport sectors play a fundamental role within a society as they are responsible for promoting commutes with a wide range of purposes, such as going to school or work. They also present a social and sustainable aspect, as they allow mobility for people with lower purchasing power and for contributing to a smaller number of individual vehicles circulating through the cities, improving the flow of traffic and reducing the emission of polluting gases. However, recent studies have shown a gradual reduction of people in the use of this service. Among the causes pointed to the fall in demand is the migration to individual transportation. The main objective of this work is to propose a mathematical model capable of explaining this sector and its main variables related to quality, about the vision of its users, characterized the importance of urban collective transportation for social and economic development of municipalities. In order to contribute to the study and improvement of the service provided in the city of Joao Monlevade. For this purpose, a questionnaire was initially developed with the purpose of raising users' opinions about several attributes related to this service. For the statistical treatment of the data, we used the factorial analysis, one of the techniques of multivariate statistics, which seeks to describe the correlations between a large number of variables. Based on this technique, the aim was to evaluate the quality of public transport through the construction of a mathematical model capable of explaining this sector and contributing to the study and improvement of the service provided. Thus, one of the 5 variables initially identified to characterize the sector reached a factor, which explained approximately 73 \% of the variability. From the linear composition of this factor, it was possible to identify the service inspection attribute, as the variable that most compromises the quality of the transportation service according to the perspective of its users. |
