Abstract	Resumen : El presente articulo analiza el uso del concepto Estado en el Congreso constituyente celebrado en Buenos Aires entre 1824 y 1827. Nuestro trabajo intentara mostrar que el concepto fue central a la hora de pensar y discutir los problemas politicos vigentes y las posibles soluciones. Dara cuenta de la existencia de una multiplicidad de sentidos semanticos en disputa que no eran patrimonio de un grupo, faccion o sistema de ideas consolidado. Por el contrario, sostenemos que su uso reflejo y fue objeto de fuertes polemicas. Entre la multiplicidad de sentidos y la busqueda de definiciones se producira una tension que sera uno de los elementos claves para comprender el fracaso del Congreso. Palabras clave : Estado; Congreso; soberania; nacion; Rio de la Plata Abstract : This article discusses the use of the concept of State in the constituent congress held in Buenos Aires between 1824 and 1827.Our work attempts to show that the concept was central when it came to thinking about and discussing political issues . It will reveal the existence of a multiplicity of meanings in semantic dispute that did not belong to one single group, faction or consolidated system of ideas . However , we argue that its use reflected and came under strong controversy. Among the variety of meanings and the search for definitions, emerging tension will be one of the key elements in order to understand the failure of the Congress.
