| Abstract | We present in this work a study of heat and mass transfers between a dam water surface and the atmosphere in Algeria. We took three cases of dams located in different areas: wet, arid, and semi arid. One of the major problems is the determination of heat and mass transfer coefficients. Traditionally, the calculation of the mass transfer coefficient is obtained from the calculation of the heat transfer coefficient then we can deduce the mass transfer coefficient by applying relations well known in the literature. We calculated the temperature on the surface of water, by using a method of Dichotomy. The calculation of this temperature enabled us to calculate and trace the evolution of evaporation according to the time and the place considered.
