| Abstract | In this study, the effects of cutting speed and feed rate on cutting forces and surface roughness by AISI 303 austenitic stainless steel machining have been investigated. The tests were carried out at four different cutting speeds (120, 150, 180 and 210 m/min) and three different feed rates (0.20, 0.24 and 0.30 mm/rev) at a fixed depth of cut of 2.5 mm. In the scope of this study, machinability of AISI 303 austenitic stainless steels comparison with AISI 304 is also aimed. The experimental results showed that AISI 303 resulted in 19% higher cutting forces than AISI 304. The increase in surface roughness was measured as 51%. Experimental results have been harmonious with literature. |
