| Abstract | The authors wish to thank the reviewer for his comments that will improve the paper and help clarify parts that are not adequately presented in the paper. 1. The “slave” mode, presented in the paper is the downscaling procedure implemented in the forecasting activities of the MFS forecasting system (in the framework of the MFS project). Since this paper is submitted for the MFS special issue on the “Mediterranean Forecasting System” the MFS downscaling procedure is used as the bench mark experiment. This aspect will be more clearly stressed in the paper and relevant reference (of the overall system description and other MFS papers presenting results) will be included. 2.
