| Abstract | Objective: To know the frequency and prevalence for sex and gestation age of congenital malformations of Nervous System in recently born alive in Neonatology. Material and methods: To revise of clinics expedients of recently born alive during the period 2000 at 2004, with congenital defects of nervous system. Results: During this period of five years, 76 cases were captured of recently born with congenital defects. The most frequently of congenital hydrocephaly in 44.7% (n = 34), the mielomeningocele in 30.2% (n = 16). To predominate the masculine sex with a relation masculine/feminine of 0.5. The maternal age is the 16 to 20 years in 42.1% (n = 32). Alone the 39.4% (n = 30) to turn a prenatal control. Conclusions: To observe a increase of the congenital malformations of the nervous system, with the prevalence of 2.4 for 1000 recently born, prevailing in the masculine sex; being the congenital hydrocephaly the most frequent; consecutive the defects of the tube neural. |
