| Abstract | SFS/NT is a Microsoft Windows NT client for the MIT L aboratory for Computer Science’s Secure File System, a decentralized, distributed file system which utilizes strong public-key cryptography for authen tication and encryption. SFS/NT is implemented as a Common Int erne File System loopback server via the Framework for Implementi ng File Systems, and is compatible with Secure File System serv ers based on the UNIX operating system. SFS/NT provides support for symboli c links and case-sensitive names, which are features not commonly suppo rted under Windows NT. It is structured as a stackable file system. Each component is located in a separate layer, which makes it simple t o add or remove components, as well as to reuse components in other fil e systems. Thesis Supervisor: M.
