| Abstract | The study assesses of the current acceptance of the eWALL, a prototype smart home technology, and identifies factors to enhance the acceptance. Orientating at the four key determinants of use behavior of the UTAUT model, an usability testing with 11 participants was conducted and the UEQ was filled in. Perceived usability was low for daily activity monitoring functions and high for sleep monitoring. Effort expectancy was low for all monitoing functions. What concern the Social Influence, many participants declined to share the data of the Daily Activity Monitoring, and more willing to share the Daily Sleep Monitoring data. As Facilitating Conditions, the physical appearance was perceived as a barrier. To enhance acceptance, more privacy control should be given and it should be assessed which information is really relevant for patients to be monitored. Futhermore, both the content and the appearance of the eWALL should be made more flexible to customization. |
