| Abstract | This research evaluated the influence of Shot-Peening and Chromic Anodization in the resistance to fatigue of the 7475-T7351 Aluminum. The Almen intensity was 0.006 A – 0.010 A and the blasting spheres was made of steel. The results of the tests with aluminum specimens, anodized ones, Shot-Peened specimens were compared in this study. The results showed that there is a reduction in the resistance to fatigue in all cases when compared to the aluminum specimens. This reduction was assigned to the tensile residual stress, to the roughness growth and to the compressive residual stress that were not sufficiently induced to retard the crack propagation. However, for slow tensions, the Shot-Peening minimized the negative effect caused by the Chromic Anodization. The results confirm the necessity of performing tests with different parameters of Shot-Peening in order to obtain the best result of the process and avoid premature fatigue fails. |
