| Abstract | A educacao a distância tem sido uma estrategia largamente utilizada pelo Ministerio da Educacao a fim de viabilizar a formacao profissional em todo o pais. Sendo os cursos de engenharia uma demanda necessaria do mercado de trabalho, a educacao a distância se apresenta como uma possibilidade de formacao, porem e preciso o acompanhamento da implementacao dos cursos de engenharia ofertados na modalidade a Distância. Nesse contexto e para viabilizar cursos que garantam a qualidade da formacao desejada devem-se levar em consideracao alguns requisitos necessarios, tais como, a equipe envolvida e suas funcoes, as instituicoes de oferta, as praticas pedagogicas, os curriculos flexiveis e as mediacoes sociais entre os conteudos tecnicos e as dimensoes generalista, humanistica e critica deste conhecimento na formacao do engenheiro. Diante disso, espera-se fomentar um processo de reflexao e transformacao que se materialize nas instituicoes academicas, comprometidas com a formacao de profissionais qualificados atraves do desenvolvimento de propostas inovadoras e de projetos criativos, ousados e desafiadores. Abstract Distance learning has been a widely used strategy by the Ministry of Education in order to facilitate vocational training across the country. Engineering courses has been a necessary demand of the labor market, distance learning is presented as a possibility of the formation, but it`s necessary monitoring the implementation of engineering courses offered in distance mode. In this context, for enabling courses and to ensure the desired quality of formation should take into consideration some requirements, such as the staff involved and their roles, reputation’s institutions, pedagogical practices, flexible curricula and social mediations between technical content and the dimensions generalist, humanistic, and criticism of knowledge in the formation of the engineer. Therefore, it is expected to foster a process of reflection and transformation that will materialize in academic institutions, committed to the training of qualified professionals through the development of innovative ideas and creative, adventurous and challenging projects.
