| Abstract | Aim : to verify the perception of doctors, dentists and nurses of the Strategy of Health of the Family of the city of Caruaru, PE, Brasil, on the importance, use and indications of medicinal plants. Methodology: transversal study was done with 82 professionals of health had participated (doctors, dentists and nurses), leased in 45 basic units of Health of the city of Caruaru. The professionals had been interviewed, using a form structuralized and validated for the method of the face. The data had been analyzed by descriptive statistical techniques through absolute, percentile distributions of measures and for the test of the Qui-square of Pearson or Exato de Fisher. Results: the majority of the participants had above of 41 years of age (37.8%), was of the feminine sex (86.6%), and graduated has less than 10 years (37.8%), in particular institution (54.9%). The course with bigger frequency of participation was nursing (41.5%). The dentists had been the ones that less prescribe herbal medicines in the ESF where the ones act (19.4%) and that less they know to guide the patients on the form of use of the medicinal grass (41.9%) with significant difference (p (Mentha spicata) (51,3%) and chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla ) (46.1%) and its respective indications as expectorants (54.3%) and anxiolytic (42.8%). Conclusion: the professionals of the ESF of the Caruaru city frequently do not use the herbal medicines in the public net, however they believe the importance of the alternative medicine implantation in the basic attention, in view of its low cost, effectiveness and easy access of the population. |
