Abstract	En este trabajo pretendo puntualizar algunos aspectos de la representacion, asi como indagar acerca de sus limites, particularmente cuando se trata de atender a situaciones traumaticas del pasado con relacion a la experiencia del horror. Para ello me sirvo de la distincion entre “memoria literal” y “memoria ejemplar” de Todorov, sobre la base de anudar la literalidad al funcionamiento metonimico de la representacion y la ejemplaridad al funcionamiento metaforico de la misma. Son, precisamente, lo que he dado en llamar “los usos metaforicos de la memoria” aquellos que permiten desplazarse desde la singularidad de la experiencia traumatica del pasado hacia la lucha contra las iniquidades del presente. It is the purpose of this paper to make some statements about the representation and its limits, especially when dealing with traumatic situations of the past, like the ones related to horror experiences. For that, it resorts to Todorov´s distinction between literal memory and exemplary memory, based on knotting the literalness to the metonymical representation, and the exemplariness to the metaphorical representation. These are, justly, what I have called “the metaphorical uses of the memory”, those that allow to move from the traumatic experience singularity in the past to the struggle against the iniquities in the present.
