| Abstract | In the past decade considerable progress has been made in the field of integrated pharmacokineticpharmacodynamic modelling, as can be deduced from the considerable increase in the number of papers on pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics in recent clinical pharmacological and pharmaceutical journals, both on the more theoretical modelling issues and on application. Furthermore, compilations of information on pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modelling in the form of textbooks have become available.[1-31 Further contributions to the discussion of pharmacokineticpharmacodynamic modelling were made at the first and second international symposia on Measurement and Kinetics of In Vivo Drug Effects in Leiden in 1990 and 1994, at the symposium on Integration ofPharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and Toxicokinetics in Rational Drug Development in Washington in 1991 and at the symposium on New Strategies in Drug Development and Clinical Evaluation: The Population Approach in Manchester, also in 1991.[4] |
