| Abstract | Starting from the close relationship that exists between another economy and another politics, I focus in this text on the meaning and the conditions for the emergence of a politics of solidarity and feminist economy. I rely on an action-research carried out with the Association of Women in Solidarity Economy of the State of São Paulo (AMESOL), Brazil, in the scope of a project for the strengthening of the economic autonomy of these women. At theoretical level, I use a substantive conception of economy and politics, not limited to the market and the State, respectively, and a feminist reading of gender inequalities, considering, in particular, the interface with the domestic sphere. I propose Nancy Fraser‟s concept of “subaltern counterpublics” in order to understand the political meaning of an experience like that of AMESOL. On this basis, I analyze the articulation between solidarity economy, feminism and other mobilizations in favor of democratization within the Association and I examine how these mobilizations are rooted in women‟s practice, on the boundary between the political, economic and domestic spheres. |
