Abstract	This is a critical-reflexive study developed from the practical experience of the authors as intensive care nurses and instructors. Literary referential in books and articles have been used to associate to the proposed theme. It was observed that nursing care in the intensive care units is indispensible to the health care of the individuals under the responsibility of these nurses.
