| Abstract | Turbulent mixing of high-Schmidt-number passive scalar i n grid-generated turbulence is investigated by means of the planar laser induced fluorescence (PLIF) technique. The Reynolds number based on the mesh size M, Rgm = UMN, is 1,500. Rhodamine B (the Scnmidt number is about 1000) is homogeneously premixed only i n the upper stream, and therefore, the scalar mixing layer w i th an in i t ia l step profile develops downstream oi the grid.
