| Abstract | Iron Age fauna from the Sibudu Cave, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This study provides the results of a recent analysis of fauna from the Iron Age layers in the Sibudu Cave in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The fauna indicate that domestic animals, as well as hunted game, were consumed. Few livestock remains were found, suggesting that the shelter was likely visited sporadically. Animal fragments linked to religious ceremonies indicate that the cave was utilised by diviners or traditional healers. |
