| Abstract | This contribution is devoted to evolution in the relationship between education and digital technology, and looks at an integrated model of digital competence that is now emerging. According to this model, digital competence is in no way an isolated field, but exists and grows in relation with other competencies. One of the implications of this integrated model is that digital competence cannot be fully achieved in the framework of initiatives carried out by individual teachers but rather requires global policy-making at education system level. Finally, the relationship between digital competence and Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) is outlined. When TEL is considered in terms of support for autonomous, self-regulated learning, it can be considered as a key aspect of digital competence. |
