Abstract	The preparation of the NLO dye 3-amino-6,13-dichloro-10-nitrotriphenodioxazine starting from 2-amino-5-nitrophenol and chloranil via 7-acetamido-1,2,4-trichloro-3H-phenoxazin-3-one is described. All precursors and new products have been fully characterized.
