| Abstract | Pteridophytes from four “Reservas Particulares do Patrimonio Natural” (RPPNs) in the South of the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It was carried out a floristic survey of pteridophytes in four “Reservas Particulares do Patrimonio Natural” (RPPNs) in the Area of Environmental Preservation in the South of Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Region (called APA-Sul RMBH), situated inside the Iron Ore Quadrangle, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. In this region, the high altitude, the presence of forests and the microclimatic conditions of the valleys (in ‘V’ shape) are favorable to the development of the pteridophytes. It was identified 190 species, 58 genera, and 24 families. The more representative families are Pteridaceae (23 species), Thelypteridaceae (22), Polypodiaceae (19), Schizaeaceae (15), Blechnaceae (14), Hymenophyllaceae (14), Dennstaedtiaceae (13) and Lomariopsidaceae (13). The genera with high number of species are Thelypteris (21 species), Blechnum (13), Anemia (13), Elaphoglossum (12) and Trichomanes (10). Most of the species are terrestrial and with Neotropical distribution. Adiantopsis perfasciculata is reported for the first time in Minas Gerais. The floristic survey presented a high richness for the studied region. |
