| Abstract | To promote applications of flow networks, more fundamental studies are desirable to disclose flip-flop flow mechanism. An experimental study was performed to investigate X-shaped intersecting flows in multiple diamond-shaped islands. The velocity variations in their flow fields were measured using two-dimensional PIV and LDV It is found that the differences in the flow patterns depend on row numbers of diamond-shaped islands, the Reynolds number and the existence of the turbulence mesh. This study also clarified the characteristics of oscillations in the ffip-flop flow phenomena. |
