| Abstract | Cet article s’interroge sur la decision de Germaine Guevremont, en 1968, de supprimer du Survenant l’entrefilet du journal L’Etoile intitule « Heritier recherche » qui proposait pour son personnage eponyme une identite hybride assez surprenante. Apres avoir examine la reception du roman entre 1945 et 1968, on arrive a la conclusion que cette decision decoule surtout du changement de paradigme discursif au Quebec entre ces deux epoques. L’article poursuit la reflexion en montrant que le contexte a egalement beaucoup change depuis 1968, et que le moment est venu de restituer ce passage, ou au moins d’en signaler l’existence au moyen d’une note en bas de page. Abstract Puzzled by Germaine Guevremont’s decision in 1968 to delete from Le Survenant the short newspaper article at the end of the novel that proposed an intriguing hybrid identity for her main character, this article suggests, after a detailed study, that the reason lies in large part in the profound changes that took place in the discursive context in Quebec between 1945 and 1968. Taking then into consideration the contemporary Quebecois context, it suggests that the time has come to restore this passage, or at least to add a footnote informing the reader of its existence. |
