| Abstract | Presently ipv6 is extremely popular with companies, organizations and Internet service providers (ISP) because of the deficiencies and limitations of ipv4. There are three mechanisms will be employed to offer transition from ipv4 to ipv6 with minimum effect on the network. These mechanisms are Dual-Stack, Tunnel and Translation. A performance evaluation of these mechanisms can help network administrators and researchers in their selection of the best transition technology for their environment. In this paper, we present a performance comparison of some transition mechanisms such as ISATAP, NAT-PT and Dual Stack by comparing their performances in order to show how the transition strategy affects network behavior by using OPNET Modeler 17.5. The results will be presented in graphs, with further explanation. The experiment will use different measurements such as throughput, latency (delay), queuing delay, and TCP delay. |
