| Abstract | In this paper, an. attempt has been made, by using the data collected by ORSTOM f rom 1956 to 1976 on. 27 tropical forest basin.+ for obtain,ing preliminary guidances for the computation of characteristics of ten-year jloods. The ten.-year jloods has been stadied on a21 these basins for the same daily precipitati,on of 120 mm. The runoff coe#.cient is comprised between 3 and 62%. For the estimation of runoff coe@ien,t for non-obseraed basins, 6 categories were considered in relation ,with the sozl-type at jirst and with the slope as a secondary factor. The rise time and the surface ru.noff time are given in relation zuith the area and the slope of the basin with, a COTrective factor : the compacity index. The reduction, coeficient between point rainfall and areal rainfall for the same frequency is given from the last research of G. Vuillaume on this subject. The study shows the necessity of exhaustive researches of the relations between structure of various clay soils an.d permeability during rainy season.
