| Abstract | The semiarid Northeast of Brazil, where volumes annually precipitates are smaller, have a natural potential to desertification. The objective of the research is to analyze geographic indicative of changes in the surface region of Caico/RN from the quantification and evolution of an indicator of desertification processes, the albedo. From satellite images, the parameter was calculated and presented in the form of maps, and frequency histogram of pixels. Then maps were generated image-difference parameter for cited, showing their spatiotemporal evolution. The result showed an increase in their fields. Although the study had been in a municipality, it is suggested that the technique is applied throughout the semi-arid region. |
