| Abstract | O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar as formas de classificacao e hierarquizacao dos individuos pertencentes a India portuguesa entre os seculos XVI e XVII. Na Africa, na Asia e na America criterios de estratificacao social moldavam o encontro entre portugueses e nativos que, nos processos de mesticagens biologicas e culturais, modificaram e ampliaram nocoes de estratificacoes e identidades locais pelas quatro partes do mundo. Dessa forma, objetivamos entender como tais dinâmicas sociais foram empreendidas no alem-mar portugues, tendo como ponto de referencia a India portuguesa e a insercao de novas categorias sociais – casados, mesticos e casticos - que compuseram a sociedade indo-portuguesa, alem de destacar a formacao de um clero nativo e mestico no interior das ordens religiosas no interesse maior de tracar similitudes e particularidades em relacao aos demais espacos coloniais portugueses no Oriente. ABSTRACT: This article is mainly aimed to analyze the forms of classification and ranking of individuals belonging to the Portuguese India between the XVI e XVII centuries In Africa , Asia and America social stratification criteria shaping the encounter between the Portuguese and natives, in the processes of biological and cultural miscegenation, modified and extended stratification notions and local identities by the four parts of the world . Thus, we aimed to understand how such social dynamics have been undertaken in the Portuguese overseas, with the benchmark Portuguese India and the inclusion of new social categories - casados, mesticos and casticos - who formed the Indo-Portuguese society, and highlights the formation of a native and mestizo clergy within the religious orders in the best interest of tracing similarities and particularities in relation to other Portuguese colonial spaces in the East.
